Herman’s Journey: Overcoming Cancer

Hello all, I’m sharing my story. On January 9th, 2025, while playing PS5 with my grandson, I started tasting blood. I went into the bathroom and was spitting up globs of blood. I went to the ER, but they found nothing. Something was clearly wrong with my health, but I was not certain what the issues were. About a week later, I went to see an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. A mass was found on my tongue. At the time, I was not too worried. I had a biopsy done a few weeks later. On March 21st, the doctor told me, “You have cancer.”
Then one of the HARDEST things I had to do was telling my daughters DAD has cancer
Now, after a few months of CT scans, MRIs, and PET scans, I’m starting my journey to recovery. My life has totally changed, and I’m not sure what will happen next. But I’m a Christian, and I’m certain God has my back and this all has happened for a reason.

This has been the toughest ordeal I’ve ever dealt with, and I see now that I really need more help than I ever thought possible.

I’ve buried my dad due to cancer, I’ve buried my brother due to cancer, and my sister is a cancer survivor.

I’ve never asked anyone for anything, but now with my wife being retired and on a fixed income I’m forced to humble myself and reach out for help! Please help with anything possible to make this transition back to my normal routine and life manageable. I would be forever grateful.
